This book is a critical and visual examination of the most important architectural project undertaken during the six-year presidential period now coming to an end in Mexico. The Biblioteca Vasconcelos is significant not only for its architectural quality and urban landscape, but also for its cultural policy. The book includes a historical text which describes the landmark libraries in Mexico’s existence and analyzes precedents of the present project, not only as a container of books, but as a cultural concept. This is a complete tour through the new library in color and black and white images. Alberto Kalach’s design is also presented through sketches, renderings, and plans. This is the first book dedicated to this project.
